JOB PURPOSE

To contribute to the planning, management and delivery of the department by preparing a diversity of accounting statements and reports on revenues, expenditures and assets, ensuring maintenance of Fixed Assets Inventory, and managing day-to-day transactions and annual checks in accordance with set processes and procedures.

 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Planning and Strategy

  • Participate in the design and implementation of Fixed Assets Inventory department’s strategy and roadmap to support alignment with Corporate Finance directorate’s strategy
  • Establish Fixed Assets Inventory department’s plans and provide input to Corporate Finance directorate’s goals that support Finance and Investment business unit’s overall strategic plans
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to identify Fixed Assets Inventory department’s required projects to meet future business demands
  • Lead and drive the achievement of Fixed Assets Inventory department's strategy, objectives and KPIs within the accountabilities of the department
  • Develop regular reports on department’s progress and outputs to be shared with relevant stakeholders in line with reporting requirements

 

Budget Management

  • Participate in Fixed Assets Inventory department’s budgeting cycle and provide input to the budgeting process
  • Ensure effective utilization of Fixed Assets Inventory department’s budget and report accurately on progress made and challenges encountered
  • Investigate and propose implementing initiatives that result in positive financial impact for Fixed Assets Inventory department and mitigate financial and operational risks

 

Fixed Assets Accounting

  • Coordinate with Materials Management directorate and follow up on the development of standardized coding for assets
  • Create and monitor, policies and procedures for the documentation of fixed assets which are related to the finance role
  • Oversee and ensure the maintenance and update of Fixed Assets Spreadsheet
  • Review and provide feedback on assets disposal decision
  • Follow-up on inventory counting, investigate and assess differences and escalate concerns/issues to concerned authorities to take necessary measures
  • Review and analyze fixed assets reports and submit related analysis to top management for proper decision making regarding buying, selling or holding the assets

 

Process Management

  • Recommend improvements to Fixed Assets Inventory department’s policies and direct the implementation of procedures and controls covering all areas of activity, ensuring relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering high quality and cost-effective results
  • Motivate subordinates and contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices, taking into account leading practices, improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement
  • Monitor day-to-day activities to ensure compliance with stipulated policies and procedures, including risk management rules and regulations

 

People Management

  • Identify, assess and recruit key talent for Fixed Assets Inventory department
  • Manage and assist subordinates to perform their functional operations in accordance with set policies and procedures
  • Guide, mentor and develop the Fixed Assets Inventory department’s team as part of their continuous development
  • Set performance objectives, provide necessary support, evaluate / appraise the team and provide regular feedback on performance
  • Promote a high-performance working environment within the Fixed Assets Inventory department

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge & Experience 6 years of relevant experience, with at least 2 years of experience in a supervisory position

Education & Certifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent is required

Master’s degree in Finance or equivalent is preferred
